Maggie Grace (born Margaret Grace Denig Sept. 21 1982) is an acclaimed American actor. She is most famously known for her role was the character Shannon Rutherford from ABC's Lost television show, and Kim Mills for the Taken Trilogy. Her birthplace was Worthington in Ohio. She dropped out of high school after her parents divorced to go to Los Angeles to live with her mother. She landed her debut role, as Rachel's Room's main character in 2001, despite having a difficult time in the financial department. The actress was able to secure an Young Artist Award nomination in 2002, for her role as fifteen-year-old victim Martha Moxley in the television movie Murder which aired in Greenwich. Grace Rutherford was the character Shannon Rutherford for Lost's first two seasons in 2004 and was awarded with her a Screen Actors Guild Award (with other cast members) along with her. Grace was a co-star alongside Tom Welling on The Fog during 2005, was looking to go to film. She has appeared as Kim Mills in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club both in 2007 as well as in Taken alongside Liam Neeson in 2008 as Kim Mills. Taken 2 (2012), Taken 3 2014 and Taken 4 (2014) were her reprises of the roles. Grace was back on the Lost series in the final two episodes playing Shannon. She's the child of Stephen Gyllenhaal (director) and Naomi Achs (producer), and is more senior than Jake Gyllenhaal. Her career began as a teenager with small parts in a few films directed by her father. In addition, she was a part of her brother in 2001's famous movie Donnie Darko. Her next roles were in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind which was released in 2002 as well as Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal received critical acclaim for her performance in the erotic romantic comedy drama Secretary (2002) and in the thriller Sherrybaby (2006) both of which earned her an Golden Globe Award nomination. After a string of commercially successful films, like World Trade Center in 2006 her name was recognized more widely for her role as Rachel Dawes (the superhero) in The Dark Knight (2007). Her performance in Crazy Heart as a mother who has a child received her a nomination to the Academy Award Best Supporting Actress. In the following years, she starred in comedies and dramatic films: Nanny McPhee & the Big Bang (2010) Hysteria 2011 and Won't Back Down 2012. Other roles are as an agent of the Secret Service in White House Down 2013. She also appeared singing in Frank 2014 and also in The Kindergarten Teacher 2018, where she portrays the lead role. In 2021, Gyllenhaal was able to make her writing and directing debut with the psychological drama The Lost Daughter for which she won the Venice International Film Festival's Best Screenplay Award and was nominated to win the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay.
